The New York State University Police Officers Union Local 1792 – District Council 82 consists of the sworn Police Officers and Investigators employed by the State University of New York in the Civil Service titles of University Police Officer 1  (UPO 1) and University Police Investigator 1 (UPI 1).  We presently represent 400 members at 28 campuses across New York State.

Local 1792 is joined by other Police Officer Locals representing the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police, New York State Park Police, and the New York State Park Rangers to form the Agency Law Enforcement Services (A.L.E.S.) Bargaining Unit. The ALES Unit presently represents 1000 members and is expected to increase when other Police titles within these departments are transferred into the new Bargaining Unit. 

Our Union strives for the improvement in working conditions, benefits, and lives of our members as well as maintaining and improving the safety, security, and the quality of life for every person that enters our College and University grounds.
